Prescription drug

A compulsory insurance according to the law

All residents of Quebec are required by law to have prescription drug insurance. Find out more about prescription drug.

If you are under 65, an active member or an emeritus member of the AOQ, and not retired, you cannot register for the public plan offered by RAMQ or register your spouse or dependent children for it. Therefore, you must subscribe to private group insurance.

We offer you a disaster insurance program since it has a deductible of $963 per adult (a choice that you made as a group to limit the growth of the premiums). Above that deductible, you will receive a 100% reimbursement of the covered prescription drugs, which means those included on the list published on the RAMQ’s WEB site. Eligible prescription drugs prescribed to children are deducted from the spouse’s deductible in the case of family coverage, or the subscriber’s deductible in the case of single parent coverage.

If you are 65, whether you are still active or not, you have a choice between the RAMQ public plan and private group insurance.

As of January 1, 2007, it should be noted that the AOQ plan ends when you are no longer an active member or an emeritus member of the AOQ or retire.
